Today, I attended Marketing class. Marketing is one of the hot fields in business since the available information is getting larger due to ICT. I was excited to take it.
But, as you can see the title, I was about to go out of the classroom. Why? The Lecture's attitude made me furious. Afternoon class is like seminar, held with a small group. An incident happened.
From the morning lecture, almost all cases that he took up was about one country's cases. That's fine because the country and culture should be paid attention because of the influence on the world. There were many things that I didn't know and would be useful in business. (A little bit boring though...)
But, in the seminar, he raised an example to compare between eastern culture and western culture. He said, "eastern people have a *** thinking." *** was a word of his mother language. Other students and I didn't get what that means aside from student from same as his. Since he didn't explain the word to us, I asked "what does it mean?" It's quite natural because the other students and I didn't know his mother language. Believe me not only I but also the other students from different countries didn't understand.
However, his reaction was quite rude! Can you imagine how his response was?
"Oh, don't you know that?"
I was pretty surprised at his first response. That made me stop listening to him at all. Even a student next to me, who is from the same country as the lecture looked concerned about what the teacher said to me.
Although he explained what he said, I was about to walk out because his attitude was very arrogant. If the word he said is well known, I might have to be embarrassed. However, this case didn't fit that.
Hmm, I hope that his behavior will change...
